چکیده
Aim: To evaluate neurosensory disturbance after using separators Vs chisels in bilateral sagittal split osteotomy. Methods: A total of (18 patients) 36 sides indicated for BSSO randomly assigned to 2 equal parallel groups; 9 patients sides) treated (control group) and were by (intervention group). The was assessed each side. Result: After one year follow up separator group showed dysfunction 11.1% while chisel 44.4%. Conclusion: use (splitting forceps elevators) led a low percentage persistent post-operative dysfunction.

Neurosensory Disturbance after Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy
Neurosensory disturbance is a common complication of bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO). This study focuses on the evaluation of factors affecting neurosensory disturbance after BSSO. Furthermore, the study focuses on the measurement of neurosensory disturbance with easily available bedside tests, not only on evaluating the state of sensory disturbance at each follow-up, but also on pred...
متن کاملNeurosensory disturbances one year after bilateral sagittal split mandibular ramus osteotomy performed with separators.
BACKGROUND The most frequently performed osteotomy for correction of mandibular retrognathia is a bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy. Permanent neurosensory disturbance of the inferior alveolar nerve is one of the most frequently and severe complications. Many authors have reported this, but the incidence differs widely. In the recent literature, only four authors have reported a percenta...
متن کاملNeurosensory Disturbance following Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy Surgery for Mandibular Advancement
Bilateral Sagital Split Osteotomy (BSSO) is one of the most common surgeries for the management of mandibular retrognathism. However, nerve damage and lip paresthesia is possible after the surgery. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the incidence of neurosensory disturbance after BSSO surgery. 42 patients in need of mandibular advancement participated in this study. The sensory status...

Introduction The aim of the present study was to highlight the incidence and patients’ subjective perception of neurosensory disturbance and the degree of satisfaction after bilateral sagittal split osteotomies, at least 3 years after surgery. Materials and Methods The sample population consisted of all 52 consecutively operated subjects who had undergone bilateral sagittal split osteotomies be...
متن کاملThree-dimensional evaluation of lingual split line after bilateral sagittal split osteotomy in asymmetric prognathism
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the pattern of lingual split line when performing a bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) for asymmetric prognathism. This was accomplished with the use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and three-dimensional (3D) software program. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study group was comprised of 40 patients (20 males and 20 females) with asymme...
